چکیده

WebRTC is a new technology allowing web players to offer communication services to their customers. It optimizes the communications by privileging peer-to-peer connections. However, in restrictive networks, media relays (TURN servers) are mandatory for establishing the call. The location and behavior of these media relays can have an undesirable influence on the quality of real-time communication. The goal of this study is to compare the impact on the QoE depending on the TURN server used. The comparison is focused on audio calls over 4G networks. The paper describes a test environment and suggests a measurement methodology based on the Mouth to Ear delay criteria. It gives the assessment of the first results focusing on TURN server location. • Keywords—WebRTC; 4G network; TURN servers; QoE

Enabling QoE Learning and Prediction of WebRTC Video Communication in WiFi Networks

Real-time video communication is becoming more and more important in our daily life. WebRTC-based video communication technique has attracted a lot of attentions recently. Its user Quality-of-Experience (QoE), however, faces challenges in wireless networks. This paper studies the problem of accurate prediction of QoE of WebRTC in WiFi networks. We first propose a real-time video QoE metric whic...

The impact of bandwidth limitations and video resolution size on QoE for WebRTC-based mobile multi-party video conferencing

Multi-party video conferencing is a highly delay-sensitive and resource-intensive service. A key challenge faced by service providers is meeting end user Quality of Experience (QoE) requirements given bandwidth limitations, especially in mobile networks. Service adaptation mechanisms may thus be employed to adapt the audiovisual quality so as to meet current network conditions and resource avai...

Fingerprintability of WebRTC

We examine WebRTC’s suitability as a means of Internet censorship circumvention. WebRTC is a framework and suite of protocols for peer-to-peer communication between web browsers. We analyze the implementation differences in instantiations of WebRTC that make it possible to “fingerprint” implementations—potentially distinguishing circumvention-related uses from ordinary ones. This question is re...

Optimization of Quality of Experience through File Duplication in Video Sharing Servers

Consumers of short videos on Internet can have a bad Quality of Experience (QoE) due to the long distance between the consumers and the servers that hosting the videos. We propose an optimization of the file allocation in telecommunication operators’ content sharing servers to improve the QoE through files duplication, thus bringing the files closer to the consumers. This optimization allows th...

Towards the Application of WebRTC Peer-to-Peer to Scale Live Video Streaming over the Internet

Given the growth on the number of Internet users and the quality of their connections, building large Internet live broadcasts has become increasingly challenging. This paper introduces the use of WebRTC peer-to-peer technology to analyze a hybrid CDN-P2P structure in order to decrease the number of requests to CDN servers, reducing the cost of transmission and enhancing system’s scalability.
